Fabrice Epelboin of Read Write Web France moderated and lead panel discussions in Studio Two with Ori Tekelman (CTO AF83), Cedric Giorgi (TechCrunch France) and Ida Rose Sylvester (Silicon Valley Link).
Sylvester says the most important factors that go into infiltrating any foreign market, is the importance of localizing your product and messaging. She says the biggest failures of companies introducing new products to US markets is not taking into consider that their product may have a different usage in the US based on different behaviors and culture.
Tekelman goes on to say, in order to be a successful startup, it’s absolutely necessary to have some presence in San Francisco. He points to the number of startups increasing in Paris. Tekelman says often, companies think of localization and different cultures last, which hurts their product.
